Last week, Hanover Raceway announced that almost 100 horses have been entered for 10th annual Dream of Glory, the signature event at the Grey County Oval
The accurate number is that 98 horses have been nominated for the 2011 Dream of Glory Trot which will start with the elimination races on Saturday July 23rd, and be followed by the $ 100,000 Dream of Glory Final on Saturday July 30th
Now having 98 horse nominated, doesn’t mean 98 horses will make it to July 23rd, and of course only 8 plus 2 additional entry candidates are eligible come Dream of Glory Night, but it’s still a good sign.
Enough owners & trainers in late Winter believe they have a trotter, who, if everything unfolds nicely, have a shot to pocket the $ 50,000 first place cheque on Civic Day Weekend
To that end, owners are reminded that their horse must be Ontario Sire Stakes eligible and have paid an entry fee, and trust me between now and the next deadline, many will drop out.
Still, while March arrives with more Winter in store, it’s nice to imagine a warm Summer Night at Hanover Raceway for the 2011 Dream of Glory Final.
