I was shooting the breeze with my psychiatrist this week, you know the usual stuff, when I added that I might be developing acute paranoia too.
She was curious about the development and, since it was a snow day, she extended my session an additional 4 hours as I talked.
I love my shrink, she sees the issues so clearly, and she deduced the root of my paranoia was the Ontario Hockey League.
Every time the Owen Sound Attack are on the road, they seem to get a bunch of penalties in the first 10 minutes.
If the Attack get the lead, they seem to get even more penalties.
The penalties are so chintzy in nature; too many men, diving, holding the stick, unsportsmanlike conduct….it never ends
I mentioned how my favorite coaches, Mark Reeds & Terry Virtue, often get a lecture from the refs in front of the entire crowd, and then, seemingly seconds later, get tagged for unsportsmanlike.
I wondered how Michael Halmo of the Attack could get an 8 game suspension when Brock McGinn of Guelph only got 2 minutes for virtually the same thing.
I asked how Garrett Wilson could get his face hacked up and his teeth knocked out without any penalties.
And I pointed out how in our 4 games with Kitchener, the Rangers have had 27 power plays; 10 more than Owen Sound.
My psychiatrist was so supportive and so comforting.
She asked when the Attack played again, and I told her tonight at London.
………………..” Oh, you’re screwed “, she told me, pointing out London ALWAYS gets the calls at home.
Then she added, ‘ Fred, even if you not paranoid, it doesn’t mean people aren’t out to get you. ‘
I’m Fred Wallace
