Another Wednesday night, another OHL game in Owen Sound, as the Attack host the Sarnia Sting, the 4th & final regular season meeting between the two Western Conference clubs.
First, let’s deal with Sarnia who are enjoying a decent ” bounce back ” season after they were last in the overall standings a year ago.
Sitting essentially at .500, the Sting are enjoying the fruits of a last place finish with some solid performances from younger guys; namely Yakupov, Galchenyuk & Hooey.
As with any young junior team, sometimes the Sting can be good, sometimes they drift, sometimes the drifting happens between shifts.
Regardless, Owen Sound has won 2 out of 3 from Sarnia this year, and can take the season series with a victory tonight at home.
Which brings us to the next point….
I’m not sure what it is, and I don’t have the exact number, but it’s not a stretch to suggest the Attack are less successful at home on Wednesdays than Saturdays.
There’s all kinds of factors, real & imagined, for that trend
Regardless of the day of the week, the Attack, if they are to be as good as they believe they can be, need to win and win convincingly tonight against the Sarnia Sting.
I’m Fred Wallace
