My Mom has a birthday today and she contends November 17th is always a turning point for Fall into Winter, maintaining that there’s always snow or a threat of snow every year on this date
Another sign of Fall into Winter comes with the climax of the Autumn sporting season this week, with a variety of CWOSSA Championships in Girls Basketball & Boys Volleyball for Bluewater Champions and qualifiers
In Girls Basketball, the CWOSSA ” A ” playdown is at Waterford, with a lot of focus on Wiarton as both the Peninsula Shores District School Phoenix will compete in both Senior & Junior
In the Ladies ” AA ” Final at Our Lady of Lourdes, Guelph there are 4 Bluewater schools split over the 2 age divisions.
In Senior Girls play, the OSCVI Lady Falcons & the Kincardine District Knights will compete
Meanwhile in the Junior Division, the Sacred Heart Crusaders and the Junior Lady Trojans from John Diefenbaker in Hanover will be in the field of teams.
Meanwhile in CWOSSA Boys Volleyball the “A” Championship is at Waterford this week while the ” AA ” Championship takes place at Norwell District in Palmerston
The Walkerton District Raiders are at the ” A ” playdown with entries in both Senior & Junior
Meanwhile, the Kincardine Senior Knights and both the Georgian Bay Senior & Junior Vikings are at Palmerston.
My mother’s birthday, the hint of snow and the CWOSSA playdowns in Girls Basketball & Boys Volleyball, all signs of Fall shifting towards Winter.
I’m Fred Wallace
