Two down & 7 to go for the Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group.
The local Minor Hockey Association staged their first two tournaments of the year over the weekend, hosting the Minor Midget Silver Stick Qualifying Tournament & the Major Midget Fall Classic.
The Minor Midget Championship was won by the North York Knights who blanked the Bradford Bulldogs 3-0.
The Knights got a goal in each period and when Bradford turned it up a notch, netminder Tally Ferraro turned them off every time, making 27 saves to post the shutout.
North York now advances to the International Minor Midget Silver Stick Championship @ Newmarket.
The Major Midget Fall Classic was won by the Vaughan Rangers in a shootout as they nipped the Parry Sound Shamrocks 2-1.
Joe DiNardo scored 9 seconds into the game to stun Parry Sound who would tie the game on a power play in the third on a goal by captain Brendan McDougall.
In the shootout, only Marco Teti scored for the Rangers who took the 2010 Fall Classic title
Owen Sound Minor Hockey group has two more significant tournament weekends ahead; October 22-24th and again November 5th to 7th.
