With Fall officially underway, hockey season isn’t far off.
Actually, that traditional equaltion has long since been reveresed, and by & large, hockey starts long before the third week of September.
Case in point, Owen Sound MInor Hockey Group is conducting the first two of, what amounts to, nine rep tournaments this weekend.
Both the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center & the Coliseum will be active with games Friday through Sunday.
The 2 tournaments this weekend are for Minor Midget & Midget players.
The Minor Midget tournament is in fact a qualifier for the International Silver Stick, one of several such tournaments Owen Sound hosts through the Fall.
Unfortunately, Owen Sound doesn’t have a Minor Midget team this season, but the 8 entries from outside the area should provide competitive action.
Owen Sound does have a Major Midget team, the Cresent Club Attack, who are entered in the Fall Classic along with 6 other Midget clubs.
The First game for the Cresent Club Attack is Friday at noon against the Vaughan Rangers at the Bayshore.
Play runs all day Friday & Saturday, leading the semifinal and Championship games Sunday beginning at 8 am at the Bayshore.
