A month from this weekend, the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame will induct 7 new members including Mark Kazarian of Owen Sound.
In lacrosse circles inside & far beyond Owen Sound, the Kazarian name is among the most prominent, with Mark’s father, Harry, being in the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame along with a huge Minor Lacrosse tournament named in his honor.
Plus Mark’s sons are still involved either on the floor and in coaching circles.
Mark Kazarian’s credentials are also well documented.
Over the course of a decade & a half, be it in Junior or Senior lacrosse, Kazarian was team captain.
A 2 time O.L.A. MVP and a multiple Presidents Cup Champion, Kazarian nearly turned a rare double in September of 1989.
First, as captain of the Owen Sound NorthStars, Kazarian and his teammates won the Presidents Cup Canadian Senior Lacrosse Championship in Nanaimo, defeating the Timbermen 9-5 in the final.
While the NorthStars weaved their way back to Owen Sound following the tournament, Kazarian stayed in B.C. as a pickup for the Brooklin Redmen who were eventually defeated by New Westminster in the Mann Cup Championship Series.
As a player, as a coach and as a builder, Mark Kazarian has carried a family legacy and carved his own identity in the sport, and for that he will be inducted next month into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
