The Ontario Senior Lacrosse Championship for the Clare Levack Memorial Trophy will be decided tonight in Peterborough.
The Norwood James Gang will host the 3 time defending Ontario Champion Owen Sound van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen in the 5th and deciding game of the Championship.
I think it’s fair to say, it’s been a homer series.
Norwood has won twice with home floor advantage & have not lost a game all season when they’ve been the home team.
The Woodsmen have squared the series with two victories at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center.
I think it’s also fair to say, the wins by the Woodies have been more convincing.
The two victories by the James Gang were accomplished with either a late tiebreaking goal, or in come-from-behind fashion.
The triumphs in Owen Sound for the Woodsmen were decided long before the final buzzer.
However, none of that matters now.
It comes down to Game 5 tonight and the winning team, likely the better team, will advance to represent Ontario at the Presidents Cup in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Will it be the youthful James Gang or will the van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen get a chance to become the first back to back to back President Cup Champions in 20 years ?
I’m Fred Wallace
