Hanover Raceway has a card of harness racing this evening, and being totally truthful, it will be a challenge for the race organizers to top what went down last Saturday night.
For the annual Dream of Glory event, Hanover’s signature event of every race season, the crowd was estimated to be in the neighbourhood of 6,000 people.
Furthermore, the handle for the night was in excess of $ 48,000 which isn’t quite double an average Saturday night, but still pretty close.
Around the races, a new mascot for the track was introduced, the fans on hand choosing ” Black Beauty ” to be Hanover’s rep, and ” Black Beauty ” responded with a decisive victory in the mascot race.
Also, as part of the sideshow, a new Hanover Raceway record for tattoos was established at 42.
Speaking of records, significant record, the all-time, all-age Hanover track record was lowered in the 9th race by ” Malicious ” as Trevor Henry turned in a mile in a time of 1 minute 53 & 2, lowering the existing mark that had been established just 4 days earlier by ” Chevron Hanover “.
And, if that wasn’t enough, the $ 100,000 Dream of Glory Final was won convincingly by Randy Fritz driving ” Krakatoa “, dusting the field in 1:59 & 1.
I’m sure it will be another terrific night this evening at Hanover Raceway, but in all honesty, I doubt they’ll duplicate the events and success of last Saturday.
See you tonight.
I’m Fred Wallace
