The Canadian Midget Fastball Championship begins this weekend at Stratford.
The Walkerton Wild are one of 4 Ontario entries in the field, after gaining their position based on a top 3 finish at the rain plagued qualifier in Owen Sound earlier this month.
The Wild will be joined by Ontario Champion Oshawa Double B, the Sydenham Cyclones & the host Stratford Memorials.
It speaks well for local fastball that one Midget entry from our broadcast region advanced to the National Championship and players from two other regional teams were scooped up in short order in the ” pick up ” process.
Two members of the Wiarton Red Devils and 2 members from the Owen Sound Brick Brothers Volkswagen Selects have been selected for tournament play.
Wiarton Pitcher Travis Jones, who’s equally skilled with the bat and Tyler Craig will both join Sydenham for the tournament.
Meanwhile, hurler Caleb Keeshig of the Selects will pitch for the host Memorials and swift outfielder Adam Stuck was added by Oshawa.
The Walkerton Wild and a handful of players from our region play for the National Midget Fastball Championship beginning Sunday at Stratford
