The 15th annual Jeff Preston Celebrity Golf Tournament is today at Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin.
The Saugeen Club, celebrating its 85th year in operation, is the proud host for this event, which is among the longest running fundraising golf tournaments in our region.
Supported solidly by the Rotary Club, this event has generated more than a million dollars since it’s inception in the mid-90’s, primarily for Muscular Dystrophy research.
Jeff Preston is afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy, but it would inaccurate to suggest the disease has slowed him down.
Punch up his biography and list of accomplishments both personal and for his community, and then you’ll truly understand why this golf tournament has maintained its longevity.
Elsewhere, this weekend, the two time defending President Cup Champion Woodsmen play their final regular season game tomorrow night when they host Huntsville.
The Woodsmen are the favorites to beat Huntsville tomorrow, but once the playoffs commence, this could be the tightest group of teams in the post season in a number of years.
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
