The weekend in lacrosse can be measured in any number of ways, but the one undeniable measure would confirm it was certainly busy.
The 21st annual Harry Kazarian Memorial Minor Lacrosse Tournament hosted 40 teams over the weekend in 6 different divisions.
It was a ” good news-bad news ” scenario for Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse entries.
The Good News- three NorthStar squads made it to the Championship Game in their respective divisions.
The Bad News- none of the NorthStar squads managed to capture the title.
The Water Store Bantams lost to Orillia, the Cresent Club Midgets were beaten by Wallaceburg & the BDO Dunwoody Intermediates lost in overtime to Six Nations.
Another good news scenario was that the organizing committee, in transition after decades of stability, did a terrific job from what I could see in their initial venture.
Yes, there was a hiccup here and there, but nothing that would be categorized as major.
Minor Lacrosse in Owen Sound looks pretty vibrant.
Plus with destinations available for the graduates at both the Junior B & Senior level as displayed by the NorthStars & Woodsmen who scheduled home games around the tournament this weekend, Owen Sound Lacrosse is certainly a busy entity.
