I’m not sure what the promotion is tonight for the Owen Sound van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen, but their last home game on Sunday night, could easily have been described as ” Comeback Night “.
On the floor, the Woodsmen erased a 3-0 Wellington lead after 15 minutes and went on to dispatch the Dufferins 9-6.
And not only did the NorthStars come back in that game, there were a number of old faces who reappeared.
Former captain Jamie Grimoldby, among the best players ever from the city, returned from his ” retirement ” and produced a 4 point night.
Put simply, the sport is fun and Grimoldby missed it and says as long as he can play to his expectations, he plans to continue competing.
Then behind the bench was Ian McGough.
He too departed the Woodsmen after their Presidents Cup victory last summer.
However, noticing the Owen Sound club had somewhat of a coaching bind with Mark Kazarian committed to both the Junior & Senior entries in the city, McGough came back and from the look on his face, he loved it.
Will there be more returnees this weekend ?
The Woodsmen host Ohsweken tonight at 8:30, hold their annual Golf Tournament tomorrow at Scenic City and then come back again Sunday night when they wrap the weekend with another home game against Wellington.
I’m Fred Wallace
