The Ontario Hockey League trade window opens next Tuesday and the Owen Sound Attack could make a deal for a senior defenceman.
Reading between the lines, my guess is that the deal would be with Barrie, but based on what may, or may not, be coming down the line this week, any potential deal could be wiped out by a movement within the Colts organization.
I really don’t know.
What do I know ?
I know that the Attack third rounder Daniel Milne was in the city a week or so ago for a little orientation.
Apparently he’s gifted academically, so will he choose the Attack ?
Or will the Attack keep him when it appears the plan is to go with 2 underagers next year and one of those spots belongs to Jarrod Maidens, and the other would be granted to Justin Wade if he elects to play in the OHL.
Coaching ?
I understand there’s an offer for Brad Tiley to remain with the club as an assistant, but Tiley’s delay in making a decision to accept may be factored on possibilities outside of hockey
Finally, the European Draft.
Owen Sound has their target, a defenceman, already NHL drafted, and may in fact trade down the pecking order rather than up.
None of today’s topics are certainties, just rather things to watch for in the days ahead.
I’m Fred Wallace
