You’ve got to hand it to the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame.
When it comes to highlights, Induction Night seldom fails to provide memorable moments.
The Induction Dinner & Ceremony last Friday at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore, I thought was terrific, which might be a testament to the wide range of inductees who were enshrined.
The President Cup Champion Woodsmen of 2008 & 2009 went into the team category and as a group, you could easily see that team spirit carried far beyond the floor.
The Walker Family was there for the induction of the late Allan Walker, a key cog in many aspects of harness racing and it was apparent they enjoyed the evening, almost as much as the many branches of the Harron Family tree as Budd Harron was also inducted, primarily for his days in hockey.
Most impressive though were the heartfelt speeches delivered by Brandon McMillen on behalf of his father Randy, or ” Rooster ” & by the Johnsons, Erika & Lorne, as they accepted the induction for their daughter Kim who was such a burning performer in Girls Basketball at West Hill & at the U of T.
The Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame will hold their next induction in 2 years time, but the warmth and emotion from the 2010 ceremony on Friday night, will remain as very special memory for years.
