Today is ” McHappy Day ” at your local McDonald’s.
When you purchase a McMuffin, a Happy Meal or a Big Mac, $ 1 from the sale will be directed to local children’s charities.
We hope you’ll support the cause and make this the most McHappy Day of all time in our region.
And while we’re talking about successful events, I thought the season opener at Hanover Raceway last week was as good a season opener as I can remember.
Better than average spring weather, good crowd, great racing including the ” Wil Weatherall Pace. “
Weatherall, a longtime horseman, was on hand just days in front of his 80th birthday, & he watched Stuart Sowerby score the win with ” Really Ideal ” in an exceptionally quick time of 1:55 & 1
Wil Weatherall probably would have liked ” Fit For Wil ” to fare a little better in the Pace, but overall he admitted it was a solid race.
Racing resumes at Hanover this Saturday night.
And two other nice notes, again from the harness track, Kincardine’s Dave Wall and the fabulous ” A Worthy Lad ” trained & driven by Bud Fritz are among the nominees for entry in the StandardbredCanada.ca Hall of Fame.
Enjoy McHappy Day.
I’m Fred Wallace
