The South-Central ” AAA ” Hockey Association staged their year end Minor Bantam Championship tournament over the weekend at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore & at the Coliseum.
On the ice, the final two games were won by the Hamilton Bulldogs & the Oakville Rangers.
The Bulldogs scored an empty netter to complete a 6-4 victory over the Niagara Falls Canucks, while the Rangers hung on to shade the Welland Tigers 3-2.
With the semifinal victories, both Hamilton and Oakville advance to represent the SCTA at the Ontario Minor Hockey Association ” AAA ” Championship Tournament in Keswick this weekend.
It’s funny, but watching the semifinals, I thought the most impressive individual players were on the losing squads; Kapuscinsky & Petti for Niagara Falls & Gillard & Learn for Welland.
Will these be names of note in the OHL in days ahead ?
Well, a lot can happen, and sometimes nothing more can happen, to a player between age 13 & 16.
The Grey Bruce Garb & Gear Highlanders were the host club, and they went 2 & 2 and narrowly missed advancing to the final.
Regardless, the team played hard and for a second time in two seasons, the Highlanders, and the city of Owen Sound proved to be very capable organizers and hosts for an SCTA Year-End Tournament
