It is an Eastern Conference weekend for the Owen Sound Attack, staring tonight with a quick jaunt to Barrie.
However, unlike any previous year in Owen Sound OHL history, the Attack will not come directly home from Barrie, but rather motor north to Sudbury to go against the Wolves on Friday.
Then finally, Saturday night the Attack will come home to host Belleville who are on their own odyssey this weekend, which starts tonight at Erie, continues tomorrow at St Catharines and then wings the Bulls into Owen Sound Saturday night.
Good scheduling !
Regardless, the Attack need to get a move on as they start the weekend 9th in the Western Conference.
Yes, they’ve won their last two games, sweeping Erie last weekend here, but what’s in front of them this week is both a challenge and an opportunity.
Not many teams are going to beat Barrie the rest of the way, so the challenge for Owen Sound tonight is to be among those teams.
Then, the following two nights, the Attack are up against clubs who are in major battles to avoid the Eastern Conference basement.
The players expected to be the best on the Wolves are either injured or languishing, while Belleville after 3 straight trips to the Eastern Conference Final are paying the price and going through a rebuild.
An Eastern Conference weekend for the Attack. Will it be a successful one ?
I’m Fred Wallace
