The World Series begins tonight at A-T & T Park in San Francisco as the Giants host the Detroit Tigers.
In baseball, momentum is everything, in fact, many times the eventual champion isn’t always the best team in baseball, but rather, the best team at the moment.
Both the Giants and the Tigers can both claim they’re on a roll heading into the Series.
The Tigers are coming off a 4 game sweep, almost a blowout, of the fabled New York Yankees.
Detroit also boasts the closest thing to a sure thing in pitcher Justin Verlander who conjures up images of former Tiger great Mickey Lolich who won 3 times in the 1968 World Series.
The Giants needed far more than 4 to advance, going the full 7 against St Louis, but the San Francisco outfit can legitimately claim that when they’re down, they’re dangerous.
Trailing Cincinnati 2-0 in the National League semifinals, the Giants won 3 in a row on the road to win that series.
Then down 3-1 to St Louis in the National League Championship, the Giants rallied again winning 3 straight, including a blowout 9-0 win Monday night to get to the World Series.
Tigers. Giants. They’re both on a run as the World Series opens tonight in San Francisco
