At the tail end of last week I had a number of neat conversations; among vastly different discussions with Al Taylor and Kendra Fisher.

Al Taylor was the original President of the Owen Sound Satellites Gymnastics Club, presiding over a  group of 7 young ladies in 1977 who had evolved to the point where extra attention and extra training would surely pay off.

We laughed at the spectacular growth of both the Satellites and the additional clubs in the city, marvelling at how a simple initiative decades ago had bloomed so magnificently.

Kendra Fisher has evolved from a prominent goaltender into a keynote speaker for various issues and mental health concerns.

Among the many stops on her busy agenda will be a trip to Durham on October 24th for the Gatsby Gala.

And while mental health is no laughing matter, we did chuckle at the ironies in her life, going from anxious netminder to, as she says, a ” let-it-fly ” public speaker.

Not related whatsoever, but great conversations last week with Al Taylor and Kendra Fisher.
