Guest Cites Abuse
Former Kitchener Rangers forward Eric Guest has produced an Instagram video that outlines a sequence of abuse that he endured while with the Ontario Hockey League club.
Among the staggering allegations, Guest states he and a fellow Rangers were locked in a bathroom at a Rookie Party and were forced by a veteran player to do cocaine.
Over the course of a 15-minute video, Guest also touches on issues he encountered at his billet house, self-medicating and spending extensive time hospitalized due to mental health concerns.
Guest played most of 3 seasons for Kitchener beginning in 2016, but departed from the club before the conclusion of his final season.
The video is the first in a series that Guest plans to produce outlining his negative experience.
NHL Notes
More than half of the National Hockey League's players remain stationed outside of their team’s home city according to Commissioner Gary Bettman
Facing a possible 14-day quarantine when they return, that would mean that NHL players would have to return to their team’s city by June 25th in order to be ready to participate in the opening of training camps scheduled for July 10th.
Some NHL teams have not opened their practice facilities for small group training sessions because they do not have enough players in their city.
The National Hockey League is seeking input from the NHLPA in the process to select the two hub cities that would host the 24-team Return to Play tournament later this summer.
The input from the Players Association is designed to ensure the players are comfortable living in a bubble culture in a specific centre.
Las Vegas is considered a frontrunner to land one of the two Hub City spots
There are 3 Canadian cities interested in being a hub city but that will hinge on the Canadian government and the existing quarantine rules.
