A community-minded group are sewing for a great cause in Gravenhurst.
Barb McCabe, the organizer for about 40 area sewers and another 35 people who are cutting out materials says the group, called ‘the Masketeers’ are creating masks to help the community stay safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.
McCabe says they’ve been at it for a week and are producing hundreds of masks to hand out to frontline care workers.

There is a drop off in Gravenhurst called ‘Pam’s Porch’ where donated materials are delivered.
Sewers then come and pick up material, sew the masks at home and bring the finished product back.

So far, the Gravenhurst Manor has received 45 masks, Granite Ridge Retirement Residence has 100, and the goal is now to get them out to area grocery stores for their employees and area Personal Support Workers (PSW’s).
Those interested in helping the effort out can contact Barb here to learn about where to drop materials off and other information.
