Owen Sound native Adam Jones is now in the National Lacrosse League record books.
Jones scored seven goals — including his second “sock trick” (six goals) in as many games — to lead his Colorado Mammoth to a 14-13 win over New England on Saturday night.
Jones has now scored in 56 consecutive regular season games, setting a new NLL record.
Jones finished eight points on the night, tying a career high for Colorado’s leading scorer.
During the streak, Jones has scored 153 goals — including 22 hat tricks and four sock tricks.
Colorado President and GM Steve Govett marked the record by joking “Death, taxes, and goals from Adam Jones.”
Govett adds Jones “is one of the game’s most talented scorers. I’m so happy for Adam. Hes worked hard to perfect his craft, and is truly one of my favorite people!”
Jones is a graduate of Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse.
Last Saturday, Jones moved into a tie with teammate John Grant, Jr. for the longest scoring streak in NLL history at 55 games.
Grant’s streak spanned from 2006 to 2011.
Jones streak began during his rookie season on April 20, 2012 against the then-Edmonton Rush.
