The Owen Sound Aquatic Club hosted the BDO Challenge at Guelph University on February 19th and 20th. Three hundred and fifty two swimmers competed at this two day event. Ethan Huff of OSAC qualified for Provincial Championships in the 200m breaststroke.
OSAC swimmers with top-five finishes were as follows:
in Girls 15 and Above – Jessica Larson, fourth in the 200m backstroke and fifth in the 100m butterfly – Erika Lau, third in the 200m backstroke – Sarah Haefling, fourth in the 800m freestyle and fifth in the 200m backstroke – Meghan Sauro, third in the 800m freestyle and fifth in the 200m butterfly;
in Boys 15 and Above – Austin Hatcher, fourth in the 200m freestyle and the 800m freestyle, and fifth in the 100m freestyle – Ethan Huff, first in the 200m breaststroke, third in the 200m individual medley, and fourth in the 100m breaststroke – Isaac Owen, third in both the 200m breaststroke and the 100m butterfly – Justin Salerne, fifth in the 100m breaststroke, second in the 200m breaststroke, third in the 400m individual medley, and fifth in both the 200m freestyle and the 800m freestyle – Jake See, second in the 100m butterfly and fourth in the 200m butterfly – Ian Dickey, second in the 100m backstroke and fourth in the 200m backstroke;
in Girls 13-14 – Joanne Diemert, second in the 100m backstroke, third in the 200m breaststroke and fourth in the 200m backstroke;
in Boys 13-14, Michael Hatcher, second in the 200m butterfly, William Boulter, fifth in the 100m butterfly – Thomas Brown, fifth in the 100m breaststroke – Ben Nicholls-Harrison, second in the 200m backstroke and third in the 100m backstroke – Peter Baker, fourth in the 200m backstroke;
in Boys 11-12 – Christopher Slocombe, fifth in both the 400m freestyle and the 100m butterfly – James Boulter, second in the 400m individual medley, the 200m backstroke, and the 100m backstroke, and third in the 100m butterfly;
in Girls 10 and Under – Emily Brown, first in the 50m breaststroke and fourth in the 100m breaststroke – Mark Sgro, second in the 50m backstroke – Zach Meikle, second in the 100m breaststroke and fourth in both the 50m freestyle and the 100m breaststroke.
In relay action, second place in the Male 13-14 200m Medley relay was won by Ben Nicholls-Harrison, William Boulter, Mike Hatcher, and Thomas Browne. Third place was won by Peter Baker, Thomas Sweeney, Luke Den Tandt, and Noah Patrick. In the Female 15 and Over 200m Medley relay, Erika Lau, Jessica Larson, Meghan Sauro, and Sarah Haefling swam to third place.
In the Male 15 and Over 200m Medley, first place was won by Ian Dickey, Justin Salerne, Jake See, and Isaac Owen. Third place went to Nicholas Van Alphen, Ethan Huff, Dillon Sweeney, and Austin Hatcher.
In the Male 11-12 200m Medley, second place was won by James Boulter, Troy Sgro, Christopher Slocombe, and Henry Pink.
Second place in the Female 13-14 200m freestyle was won by Gabriella Walsh, Emilie Landry, Robyn Barnes, and Joanne Diemert.
In the Male 13-14 200m freestyle relay, third place went to Thomas Browne, Ben Nicholls-Harrison, Peter Baker, and Noah Patrick.
In the Male 15 and Over 200m freestyle, first place was won by Justin Salerne, Isaac Owen, Austin Hatcher, and Nicholas Van Alphen.
Third place in the Female 10 and Under 200m freestyle was taken by Emily Browne, Sarah Diemert, Bonnie Slocombe, and Amy Lefebevre.
Second place in the Male 11-12 200m freestyle, was won by James Boulter, Henry Pink, Christopher Slocombe, and Troy Sgro.
