The organizing committee of the 2011 Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race is pleased to announce that Bikeface Cycling in Owen Sound has signed on as a partner today, agreeing to provide bike rentals free of charge to racers.
The race will take place on Saturday August 13, 2011 in Wiarton, Ontario and will feature a 100km long course, a 25km short course as well as a kids race around Bluewater Park. All proceeds from the race will be used to support outdoor sports initiatives on the Bruce.
The community support for this race has been astounding, said organizer Leigh Grigg. Thanks to Bikeface Cycling in Owen Sound, and Suntrail in Hepworth, you dont need to own your own bike or kayak in order to participate. The organizers remind all racers that they must have some kayaking experience however in order to participate.
The complimentary bike rentals from Bikeface Cycling are first-come-first-served, and participants will need to register for the race and reserve their rental immediately afterwards, as there will definitely be more demand than supply. Reservations are mandatory for this reason. Racers can do all of this on the race website at www.griggsport.com/bruce
Doug Miller, who manages the store, is pleased to be involved in yet another community event. Bikeface Cycling is a full service bike shop…servicing all bikes and riders. Check us out in Owen Sound and at Bikeface.com. As it has done with similar recent events, Bikeface Cycling will also be donating prizes.
The Bruce Peninsula Race is selling extremely well, ahead of expectations, and will soon be sold out, as registration numbers are limited in the inaugural first year. The event is, however, in need of volunteers. To get involved, contact: Leigh Grigg at 519-270-8041 admin@griggsport.com or Jack Van Dorp at 519-270-9951 jack@vandorpracing.com
