The never-say-die Durham Thundercats have capped another dramatic comeback in the WOAA Senior Hockey League playoffs.
The Thundercats doubled the Lucknow Lancers 6-3 on Sunday night at home to win their best-of-seven North ‘A’ final playoff series 4-3.
It was the fourth straight win for Durham after dropping the first three games of the series.
It’s also the second straight series comeback for Durham, who fell behind Shallow Lake 3-1 in the last series before bouncing back to win that affair in 7 games.
Rob LeBlanc’s second goal of the game on Sunday snapped a 3-3 tie just before the midway point of the third period and stood up as the winner.
Kevin Tremble also scored twice for the T-Cats and added an assist.
Lucknow won the first three games of this series handily, outscoring Durham 18-6.
But the Thundercats finally found their offence in Game 4 and outscored the Lancers 25-12 the rest of the way.
Lancers coach Greg Hamilton says some of his players seemed to feel they had the series wrapped up after Game 3, and Lucknow never got the momentum back.
Durham coach Andy Grant says it took a while for some of the Thundercats to adjust to the system he wanted them to play, but it has obviously paid off for them.
Durham now advances to the WOAA Senior A final against the Milverton 4 Wheel Drives.
They beat Thedford in 7 games in the South ‘A’ final.
The final series is begin Friday night in Durham at 8:30 PM.
The Senior “AA” final is also set.
The Petrolia Squires downed the Lucan-Ilderton Jets 4-0 on Sunday to win their semifinal series 4-3 — and the Squires will meet the Elora Rocks in the final.
The Senior B final is in the books, and the Goderich Pirates are the champions of that division.
They edged the Drayton Icemen 4-3 on Friday to wrap up that series 4-1.
