OHL Playoffs
The Belleville Bulls have extended the OHL East final to at least one more game.
Nick Palmieri scored on the power play to give the Bulls a 3-2 win over the Brampton Battalion in double overtime.
The Battalion still lead the best-of-seven set 3-2.
Game 6 goes tonight in Brampton.

Greater Ontario Junior Hockey Playoffs
Sutherland Cup Finals
The Branford Golden Eagles drew first blood in the Sutherland Cup Junior B finals.
The Eagles defeated the Stoney Creek Warriors on the road by a score of 4-1.
Alex Szczechura led all scorers with a goal and an assist.
Game 2 goes tomorrow night in Brantford.

Junior A Playoffs
Dudley Hewitt Cup in Schreiber
There is now a 3-way tie for first at the Dudley Hewitt Cup tournament in Schrieber.
The host Diesels handed Fort William their first loss of the tournament beating the North Stars 5-2 last night.
Kevin Clark had a goal and 2 assists for Schreiber.
The Kingston Voyageurs blanked the Soo Thunderbirds 3-0.
Shawn Sirman got the shutout for the Voyageurs.
Kingston, Fort William, and Scrieber all sit at 2-1, the Soo drop to 0-3.

Bluewater Soccer
In Bluewater Senior Boys Soccer, OSCVI shutout Peninsula Shores 3-0.
Curtis Gibbons got the shutout.
West Hill edged Georgian Bay 2-1.
In Bluewater Senior Girls Soccer, St. Mary’s defeated Grey Highlands 4-1.
Madison Arthur had 3 goals for St. Mary’s.
Georgian Bay shutout West Hill 5-0.
One other game saw OSCVI beating Peninsula Shores 3 -1.

Swimming
Members of the Owen Sound Aquatic Club competed in two events this week.
20 swimmers were at the Team Champs event in Brantford.
Michael Hatcher finished first in the 100 metre breast stroke and 50 metre breast stroke events in the boys 10 and under category.
Hatcher also placed 2nd in the boys 100 metre and 50 metre butterfly events.
12 swimmers competed in the Long Course Invitational at McMaster University in Hamilton.
Ellen Diemert won the 13-14 girls 50 metre breast stroke event.
She also placed 2nd in the 100 and 200 metre breast stroke and 200 metre freestyle events in the same age group.

2009 Springfest 55-plus Carpet Bowling
Here are the results from Wednesday’s 2009 Springfest Carpet Bowling Event.
The pair of Rose and Bev Blair finished in first followed by Amelia Dincan and Ron Taylor, and Marilyn and Edwin Mutch.
