The defending Canadian Champion Owen Sound van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen begin their Senior Lacrosse training camp this weekend.
Over the next 3 weeks, the reigning President’s Cup champion Woodsmen will prepare for their season opener & home opener May 2nd when they host Norwood.
Woodsmen General Manager Mark Berner admits it’s been a quick off season, but an enjoyable for the Woodies who won their first ever National Championship under the Woodsmen banner
( The Owen Sound North Stars previously won the President’s Cup )
Berner anticipates at least two players will not be returning to the Championship team.
Netminder Kevin Beauvais and defender Matt Rayner have both indicated they won’t be coming back.
Beauvais, if he does play again, would like to play near his home in Brantford.
Rayner is pursuing academic interests in the United States.
Otherwise, Berner will have a better handle in his club once the bodies start to file in on the weekend for their first session at the Shallow Lake Arena.
