As Bayshore Broadcasting Sports Reporter Ken Hashizume tells us the Hornets defeated the Hawks 4-1 last night and now move on to the semi-finals of the Schmalz Cup playoffs.
It was a familiar start in Game 4 of the OHA Junior C quarterfinals.
The Georgian Mid-Ontario and defending Schmalz Cup champs opened up the scoring on a power play goal by Kyle McDowell five minutes into the first period.
The Western League champions tied it up 31 seconds into the second period on a power play goal by defenseman Trevor Smith.
But Alliston would pull away as Alex McTeer and Jason Campeau both scored on the power play to make it 3-1 for the Hornets after two periods.
Mike Campeau would score on the power play in the third to wrap up the series.
Walkerton were not able to capitalize on a number of opportunities.
The Hawks had a 2-man advantage on three separate occasions but could only score one goal.
Then with the Hawks trailing 3-1 in the third, forward Drew Davidson had a breakaway attempt while short-handed but Hornets goaltender Breton MacKinnon made a brilliant save.
The Hawks were 1 for 10 on the power play while the Hornets went 4 for 10 with the man advantage.
The Hornets will now take on the winner of the Amherstview/Uxbridge series in the Schmalz Cup semi-finals.
