The Midwest bracket was the place for surprises on the second day of the N-C-A-A tournament as there were five shocking upsets.
Thirteenth-seed Cleveland State stunned fourth-seed Wake Forest 84-69. In its only other tournament appearance in 1986, Cleveland State upset Indiana in the opening round.
The 12th-seeded Arizona Wildcats knocked off fifth-seeded Utah 84-71. Nic Wise scored 21 of his 29 points in the second half.
Dayton, a number-11 seed, shocked number-6 West Virginia 68-60. Chris Wright scored a career-high 27 points for the Flyers.
The 10th-seeded Southern California Trojans knocked off seventh-seed Boston College 72-55. Taj Gibson led the way with 24 points.
Ninth-seeded Siena needed double overtime to beat eighth-seed Ohio State 74-72. Ronald Moore made a three-pointer with 3-point-9 seconds left in the second extra period for the win.

Gerald Wallace and Boris Diaw scored 30 points each as the Charlotte Bobcats earned a 102-89 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Raymond Felton had 14 points and Wallace also had nine rebounds and eight assists to lead Charlotte to it’s third straight win and a sweep of a home-and-home series. Chris Bosh scored 35 points and Andrea Bargnani added 27 for the Raptors, who have lost nine of their past 10.
Kevin Martin scored 30 points as the Sacramento Kings beat the New York Knicks 121-94.
Vince Carter had 17 points as the New Jersey Nets beat the Miami Heat 96-88. N-B-A leading scorer Dwyane Wade had 27 points in his return to the Heat lineup after a hip flexor injury.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points and made an 18-foot shot with 1.1 seconds left to give Dallas a 94-92 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Antonio McDyess scored 24 points and Tayshaun Prince added 23 more as the Detroit Pistons beat the L-A Clippers 108-90.
Deron Williams scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half in leading the Utah Jazz to a 101-94 victory against Oklahoma City.
Chris Paul had 32 points as the New Orleans Hornets defeated Memphis 96-84.
Ray Allen scored 19 points as the Boston Celtics beat the San Antonio 80-77. Boston’s Kevin Garnett saw his first action after missing 13 games with a knee injury, playing sparingly and sitting out the final quarter.
J-R Smith scored a season-high 40 points to lead Denver past the Washington Wizards 116-105, the Nuggets’ fifth straight win.
Ron Artest scored 20 points as the Houston Rockets routed the Minnesota Timberwolves 107-88.
Brandan Wright had 25 points as the Golden State Warriors earned a 119-111 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
