The Western Junior C Final is now even at 1 game a piece.
Hanover defeated Walkerton 5-3 yesterday in Game 2 of their best of seven series..
Two goals from Cory McClinchey including the eventual game winner gave the Hanover Barons a 5-3 win over the Walkerton Hawks yesterday afternoon.
The second period was the liveliest of the three as both the Barons and Hawks scored a combined 6 goals in front of over 900 at the Hanover Coliseum.
As they did in Game 1 on Friday, Hanover opened up a 2-0 lead on power-play goals by McClinchey and Kevin Tremble only to have Walkerton tie it up with two goals scored 39 second apart by Bill Terpstra (terp-stra) on the power play and Andy Mitchell 5-on-5.
The Hawks would take a 3-2 lead on a goal by Derek King.
But 29 seconds later, Sheldon MacLachlins attempted pass in the attacking zone went off Hawks defender Braden Grays stick and into his own net to tie the game at 3.
The Barons would take the lead for good a minute and a half later thanks to McClincheys second goal of the game.
Rob Hellyer would cap the scoring with a late third period goal.
The Hawks fired 38 shots on Barons goaltender Michael Nigalis while Clayton Fritsch faced 27 from Hanovers shooters.
Game 3 of this best-of-seven series goes this Thursday night (12th) at the Walkerton Community Centre.
