CWOSSA ” A-AA ” Girls Hockey Championship
at Waterford
The KDSS girls hockey team won the silver medal at the CWOSSA hockey championships in Waterford today.
The Lady Knights beat Our Lady Lourdes 3-2, and then beat Waterford 5-0 to advanced to the championship game against Bishop MacDonell from Guelph.

On Wed. March 4, 2009, The St. Mary’s Mustangs Girls Hockey team travelled
to Port Dover to participate in the CWOSSA Girls Hockey Championship.
In their first game at 12:00 against Port Dover, Alona Keeshig opened the
scoring within 8 seconds to begin the 7-0 win over Port Dover. She was
assisted by Ona Mezenberg and Madison Arthur. She was quickly followed
with goals by Rachel Douglas, assisted by Michelle Curley, and by Kate
Wagner, assisted by Madison Arthur. St. Mary’s continued to dominate the
game with goals scored by Belina Hooper, unassisted, Madison Arthur,
assisted by Natasha Boucher, Charlotte Curley, assisted by Madison
Arthur and Ona Mezenberg, and Madison Arthur, assisted by Kate Wagner.
In their second game, at 3:00 the Mustangs faced stiffer competition
against Bishop MacDonnell of Guelph. The Guelph team scored 3 goals
against the Mustangs in the first period, with St. Mary’s replying with
one goal by Ona Mezenberg, assisted by Madison Arthur. In the second
period, the Mustangs tied it up with goals scored by Ona Mezenberg,
assisted by Kate Wagner, and by Natasha Boucher, assisted by Ona
Mezenberg. The third period remained tied until 4 minutes left when
Bishop Mac scored on the short-handed Mustangs. Bishop Mac then scored on
St.Mary’s open net, then one more time to clinch their spot in the CWOSSA
final on Thursday. Final score 6-3.
