It came down to drawing a name out of a box in order to choose a Warden for Bruce County in 2020.
After 3 tied ballots among county councillors, the decision ended up being luck of the draw.
Huron Kinloss Mayor Mitch Twolan's name came out first and was declared Warden.
It's his 6th one-year term since 2007, having served then, and again from 2015 to 2017 and finally in 2019.
Twolan says his top priority is to address the remaining challenges at Brucelea Haven Long Term Care that have been in the news recently.
However, he says they also have to address the problems that come with economic growth in the county.
The Warden says they have to find affordable homes and ways to get people to their jobs.
Twolan says it's not a unique situation to Bruce County but it still brings its challenges.
The tied vote three times, had councillors voting 4-4 but the new warden does not see that as a split council.
He says, “We support one another and this is part of making decisions as politicians.”
Challenger Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie left the door a bit to perhaps running again in the future but made no commitment.
Ironically, Grey County Council just went through the same thing recently voting for a new Warden and Grey Highlands
Mayor Paul McQueen came out the winner, via a draw.
