Mayor Sue Paterson says the new Strategic Plan will serve as a road map for Hanover guiding Council in decision making over the next four years.
The Plan includes 22 action items with built in quantifiable performance measures that will be used to track the outcome of each item.
Staff describe the updated Strategic Plan as a more modern and focused effort that rests on four main pillars:
Economic Development, Community, Environment and Sustainable Municipal Operations.
Paterson says this living document will identify council priorities and will guide Council in all future decisions.
This includes providing direction for setting budgets, allocating resources and setting municipal goals over the next four years.
Among the 22 action plans include:
-Expanding programing for LaunchPad
-Continue to advocate for local trades and apprenticeship training to bridge gaps
-Work with County partners, relevant social agencies and police to develop and maintain a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan for Hanover
-Work with Brockton to undertake a formal Operations Review of landfill
-Enhance succession planning and mentorship programs within municipal staff
-Prepare a long-term financial plan and policies framework
Among challenges and concerns identifies as a result of the public input process include: affordable housing lack of industrial land to allow Hanover to grow as well as the lack of good paying job opportunities and transportation challenges
The Strategic Plan relied heavily upon public input which was gathered through online surveys, the Town also hosted focus group sessions
