Foodland on the Sunset strip near Owen Sound is primed for a Grand Opening of its new location.
Franchise owner Bill Graham says Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy, Georgian Bluffs Mayor Al Barfoot and Warden Stewart Halliday will all be on hand, along with Sobeys and Foodland executives for the ribbon cutting at 9am next Thursday, March 22nd.
The new store is approximately 36 thousand square feet in size, and Graham says the old store will be torn down in the next few months.
It will be replaced with green space including picnic tables.
Foodland is one of the 87 grocery stores in Ontario that were recently approved for selling beer and cider.
The winning grocers were selected via a competitive bidding process held by the LCBO.
They join over 200 grocery stores already authorized to sell beer and cider, bringing the total number to 370.
