A 30 year business staple in downtown Owen Sound is coming to an end.
Dave Hawkins — the co-owner of Fromager Music — is retiring and handing the business over to someone else.
Long and McQuade purchased the store and it takes effect on Monday November 23rd.
The store on 8th Street East will stay open and will still maintain the coveted name until a new store is opened in a new location in Owen Sound.
Hawkins says Long and McQuade is not only known in the community but has a total of 69 stores Canada wide.
One important note that most people do not know is Dave Hawkins is not the sole owner of the store.
An accountant in Owen Sound, Bert Wakeford, is the co-owner behind the scenes.
Hawkins says in 1985, he was called by Wakeford to be a manager of the business and then transitioned into a part owner.
Hawkins says the two have had a wonderful partnership and he is very grateful to Wakeford for that.
He says all of his former employees will still be employed under Long and McQuade.
It is not yet determined where the new store will be located in Owen Sound.
