Premier Doug Ford says a majority of regions in Ontario can enter Stage Three starting Friday at 12:01 am.
Twenty-four regions can enter Stage Three excluding areas like Toronto, York, Niagara, Peel, Durham, Windsor-Essex, Hamilton, Halton and Lambton, Haldimand-Norfolk.
The move allows nearly all businesses in the Stage Three areas to reopen.
Examples of businesses reopening in Stage Three include casinos (except for areas such as gaming tables), gyms, bars, restaurants, live shows, movie theatres and amusement parks, live sporting events and tour and guide services.
Smaller social gatherings of up to 100 people will also be able to gather outdoors and 50 indoors in Stage Three – they must still socially distance with those outside their social circles though.
Ford says Stage 3 can happen in these areas because cases are going down enough to warrant it.
“And we will provide and update every Monday on regional reopening,” said Ford. “We will keep working until every part of this province gets to Stage Three.”
Education Minister Stephen Lecce adds that July 27th all Ontario childcare centres can operate at 90 per cent of the capacity that existed pre-Covid.
