A historic spot in Meaford is officially saying goodbye.
The old Stanley Knight Hardwood Flooring factory on Boucher Street is being torn down.
The process has already begun and Director of Planning for the Town of Meaford, Rob Armstrong, says it’s expected to take several weeks to be complete.
Armstrong tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that MDR Haulage is company looking after the building removal.
The company’s website says production stopped almost one year ago, after 77 years of making hardwood flooring.
Their website says it was a difficult decision to close, but it was the right decision at the time.
Armstrong says that there’s no plans for the land right now, that the Stanley Knight company still owns the land.
But, he does say the site is included in the Town’s Official Plan for possible mixed-use residential.
