A tentative deal has been reached for Ontario’s 10,000 French-language elementary and secondary school teachers.
Union President Carol Jolin says this means a work-to-rule action set to begin Friday is on hold pending a ratification vote that must be held by October 16th.
Ontario Education Minister Liz Sandals says the deal is in line with the province’s net-zero bargaining framework — meaning any salary increases are offset through the collective agreement.
There is still no deal for public elementary school teachers — and no word when talks between the union, the province and school boards will resume.
The agreements for the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association await ratification.
