A hands-on volunteer program in Goderich will help high school students get firsthand conservation experience.
The Lake Huron Centre For Coastal Conservation is now accepting applications for their Youth Corps program, beginning the second week of August.
Coastal Stewardship Coordinator, Hannah Cann, says students taking part will be working along the shoreline of Lake Huron, and bringing results back to the Coastal Centre offices for study.
Cann says the experience gained through the program will also be transferable to numerous jobs students may pursue.
“Community planning, field surveys with species at risk, and transportation corridor planning.”
Registration is now open for youth in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, looking to earn 40 hours of volunteer experience in coastal conservation projects on Lake Huron. This takes the shape of a one-week commitment this August or two-weekends this fall in Goderich Ontario.
