The Province has unveiled its Covid-19 Economic Recovery Act, aimed at restarting jobs throughout Ontario.
If passed, the legislation will help key infrastructure projects get built faster and reduce red tape.
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark says other aspects help municipalities specifically.
“Municipalities will be a key partner in our economic recovery,” said Clark. “And that’s why the legislation I tabled today will include regulatory and policy changes to support our municipal and community partners.”
If passed, the legislation will allow municipalities to continue to hold electronic meetings when they want and install a new community benefits charge to help pay down infrastructure and services costs.
As Ontario moves to end the declaration of emergency, the province is introducing new legislation that will, if passed, continue to support the safe reopening of the province while managing the ongoing risks of COVID-19. Learn more: https://t.co/JVJqfGE6DD pic.twitter.com/CUf5olV9dc
