Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced extra support today for Canada’s food banks and local food organizations.
He says the federal government will provide 100-million dollars to make sure vulnerable Canadians can get the food they need, when they need it most, including those living in northern and indigenous communities.
Trudeau says the groups getting extra funding include: Food Banks Canada, Breakfast Club, the Salvation Army and many more.
He is also asking residents to reach out their local food banks to find out how you can help.
Meanwhile, another big announcement the PM made today is that a deal has been made with Amazon Canada for the distribution of critical equipment to provinces and territories, so they get supplies they need like ventilators, masks, etc…
Trudeau says the armed forces are ready to intervene to help isolated and remote communities.
In addition, he suggests that if you’re going to apply for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit on Monday, check in with your banks today about direct deposit.
