The Avon Maitland District School Board has provided an update on what in-class and online learning will look like for kindergarten students, this September.
Last month, Education Minister Stephen Lecce gave the nod for schools in Huron and Perth counties to resume in-person course work five days a week, following the Labour Day weekend.
The AMDSB says kindergarten students will take part in “active play-based” learning, and will not be expected to sit at desks throughout the day.
Officials say kindergarten learners will also spend a “significant amount of learning time outdoors,” while “some learning activities will not be available this fall due to cleaning requirements (costumes, soft toys, etc.).”
For online courses, kindergarten students will be given activities to complete at home with a parent or caregiver, and online teaching sessions will be provided at a length appropriate to the child’s age.
Updates have also been provided for what the upcoming academic year will look like for elementary and secondary students.
