The local health unit reports its biggest jump of Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.
The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit says there are nine new cases and all but two are community acquired or from close contact with someone who has COVID-19.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Charles Gardner, says there is a shift in the direction of more community acquired cases rather than travel related.
Gardner says he expects a rise in cases in the region and expects us all to have to maintain physical distancing and self-isolation for months.
The new cases include one in Adjala-Tosorontio, one from Tiny, one from Barrie, two from Orillia, one in Ramara, one in Huntsville and one in Muskoka Lakes and one from Innisfil.
Dr. Gardner updated the situation at Spencer House Orillia where a staff member has COVID-19. He says there are no other cases at the long-term care home.
