Canada Day celebrations in Meaford will be bigger and better than ever before in 2013.
The celebrations begin on Friday evening and go right through the weekend, leading up to the Kinsmen fireworks display on Monday night.
On Friday, June 28th, the Farmers’ Market at the Rotary Harbour Pavilion will be open from 3pm to 7pm. There will be Canada Day Story tent from 3:30 to 4:30 for the kids.
On Saturday, the soap box derby begins at 9am on Collingwood street. Barry Altman, the Manager of the Chamber of Commerce expects a very large crowd to show up for the second annual derby. The first race in 2012 was a huge success and there will be even more cars and racers this time around.
The big event is on Monday, however, with a full day of celebrations in Meaford.
The Golden Town Cruiser kicks things off at 8:30am on Bayfield Street with a huge display of classic cars.
From 9am to 11am, the Military Family Resources Centre hosts a big pancake breakfast downtown, leading into the Canada Day parade on Sykes Street at 11:30am.
Altman says there will be a massive Canada Day cake after the parade – big enough to feed 1000 people.
All of the Canada Day events are free – with the exception of beer from beer gardens and food from barbecues.
