Some good news for students who are open to volunteering if they don’t have a job this summer.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the Canada Student Service Grant is there to provide students financial aid if they volunteer with National non-profits to help fight the pandemic.
Eligible students would receive grants for between $1,000 and $5,000 to support the costs of their post secondary education in the fall.
“There are fewer jobs and many co-op, internship and community service placements because of the pandemic,” said Trudeau. “So if you are a student and new grad, we are creating tens of thousands of jobs for you.”
The ‘I Want to Help’ online platform will provide more info at the government’s website which you can visit by clicking here, like the number of hours students need to volunteer for in order to receive the grants, the application process and more.
$40 million in funding was also announced for mytax internship postsecondary positions that encourages co-operations between students and the private sector.
