A change.org petition has been launched after comments made during a virtual session of a Township of Amaranth meeting.
At the meeting of council June 17th, a letter was submitted to council asking if they would fly a Pride Flag this year.
In a clip from the ZOOM conference meeting, Mayor Bob Currie states that no they won’t be flying the flag.

In the clip, Currie emphatically says “ No I don’t think we should be flying the flag this year. If everybody was either lesbian or homosexual, this would be the last generation on earth, because two homosexuals cannot produce offspring, and two lesbians cannot produce offspring, so why would I support something when this could be the last generation on earth?”
The petition is calling for Bob Currie to be removed from office for what’s being called extremely offensive and homophobic remarks.
So far the petition has 682 signatures.
