A warning from local public health officials about rabies vaccine bait that has been placed around the region.
Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health says efforts to curb the spread of rabies in wild animals continues this summer.
Each year the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry drops rabies vaccine bait in targeted areas including Wellington and Dufferin.
From July to October this year they are dropping baits by aircraft to target raccoons, foxes or skunks to consume.
The vaccine is not harmful to people or pets, but if one is ingested you should contact your doctor or veterinarian as a precaution.
Locally, several animals have tested positive for rabies since 2017.
