Barrie Police are moving ahead with a pilot project that will see some front line uniformed officers outfitted with body-worn cameras.
The police service has been working towards implementing them since 2016 – they now have the foundation in place to support the technology and the secure storage of digital data that will allow them to move forward with the new tool.
Chief Kimberley Greenwood says she looks forward to the project and the benefits it will bring as a tool to support Barrie Police’s commitment to community safety and their officers.
The pilot is expected to start in Fall 2020.
A later evaluation of the project will then be presented to the Barrie Police Services Board.
