It’s eviction day at Milligan’s Pond in Barrie, where dozens homeless people have been living in a tent city for the past few months.
Mayor Jeff Lehman had extended camping overnight at the park due to the COVID-19 pandemic back in May, but the grace period is over as of today.
The city says it has been working with representatives from five outreach organizations to find suitable housing for the campers, possibly even hotel rooms.
However, that is only considered a short-term solution for the campers, some who are struggling with addiction.
